Film Music

In recent years, Vassilis Tsabropoulos has devoted an increasing part of his creative work to music for film, a field in which his distinctive compositional language finds a natural extension.

Long before his most recent projects for the screen, compositions from his extensive ECM discography had already acquired a life beyond the concert hall and the recording studio. Their evocative, atmospheric and deeply narrative character has led to their use in film, theatre and ballet productions, where they have accompanied both visual storytelling and movement.

His original work for the screen includes White Vision, created especially for the Hellenic Film Academy Iris Awards, as well as the soundtrack for Lazarev put by director Ivan Jović, featuring Nektaria Karantzi as vocal soloist. His latest film work also includes the original score for the forthcoming feature Our Seeds, directed by Arik Erhan.

Across these projects, Tsabropoulos approaches film music not simply as an accompaniment to the image, but as an essential part of the dramatic narrative, allowing sound, silence and musical form to interact with the emotional world of each film.
